Spring will be here before you know it. Now's the time to get your commercial doors ready for the weather change. This is particularly important if your garage doors have endured a wet, freezing winter. You don't want your garage doors to fail you once the weather warms up. 1. Conduct a Sight and Sound Test
When it comes to preparing your commercial garage doors for spring, the best thing you can do is start with a sight and sound test. You can learn a lot about the condition of your garage doors by watching and listening while it runs through the motions. While standing a few feet away from the doors, activate the motor. Watch and listen as your doors open and close. Make note of any unusual occurrences you notice, such as grinding or squealing sounds, or areas that lag along the tracks. Those are areas that will need to be addressed.
2. Schedule a Safety Inspection
Once you've conducted the sight and sound test on your garage doors, you'll need to schedule a safety inspection. A safety inspection will ensure that the issues you noticed earlier are taken care of before the problems get worse. During the safety inspection, your garage door technician will also test the safety devices that are designed to prevent accidents and injuries. Conducting an annual safety inspection is the best way to keep your commercial garage doors in proper working condition.
3. Clean the Tracks

If your commercial doors aren't used often enough during the winter, pests can build their nests along the upper edges. This is particularly true where birds are concerned. To make sure pests don't cause problems for your garage door when you start using it again in the spring, be sure to clear away birds nests and other signs of pest activity.
